Why Size Matters

Selecting the proper rug size is key to a room’s look. If it’s too small the space will feel off. If too large it will dominate the area. That’s why we present a great many options in terms of size for each room and layout we use pure wool, jute, or cotton in our rugs which are free from synthetic materials or chemical treatments.

Rug Sizes by Room

Entryways and Hallways (2×3, 2.5×7, 3×5 ft).

Make your first impression a lasting one with narrow rugs and runners which do amazing in tight spaces. These sizes we love for bringing in that natural element to high traffic areas. Handwoven jute or cotton rugs do the best job of adding that warm and textural element as they also do very well with heavy use.

Bedrooms (5×8, 6×9, 8×10 ft)

Frame out your space and break the silence at dawn with mid sized rugs. For queen and king size beds we suggest the 8×10 size which does a great job of extending past the bed’s sides and foot. Go for a minimal look? Try a 5×8 size placed under the bottom two thirds of the bed which does amazing.

Living Rooms (8×10, 9×12, 10×14 ft)

In many cases a large scale area rug will tie your space together and define your seating area at the same time. In large living rooms we suggest going big 9×12 or 10×14 size is great — they bring a sense of balance and also allow all your furniture to be placed right on top of the rug. Also in open concept spaces these large scale pieces really stand out.

Dining Rooms (6×9, 8×10, 9×12 ft)

The focus is on size — your rug must be large enough to include the chairs when they are pulled out. A 5.5m x 3m.5m rug usually works for a standard table that seats six, and a 3m x 4m is perfect for eight or more.

Kitchens & Bathrooms (2×3, 3×5 ft)

Even in small spaces we may put in custom luxury. In the kitchen at the range or near the sink, in the bath by the vanity use these compact scales. For these areas natural fiber throw rugs not only do they look beautiful, also they do a great job of absorbing moisture and drying quick.
